Christmas lights of memories
blinking on
blinking off
oops one went dark
but the tree still shines
with beauty

Where are my kids
Did my dog get out
I know I parked my car close
Are we in town
Did Momma say she’s coming back today

Remnants of you
pieces of an old torn quilt
Still stitched with threads hanging on
to warm the wearer

you always
give smiles

Why yes good to see you I am fine
Why yes the sun is beautiful today and the trees so green
Why yes God is so good

I leave the home
wondering if I
am ever the child you
sometimes seek

when will my light
turn dark for you
you beautiful woman
